Void Galactica is a small independent game project, and this site is a devlog with a mailing list attached. It is not an advertising business and there is nothing here worth building a profile out of. Three things can put your data in someone else's hands — the analytics counter, the newsletter form, and the contact form — and all three are listed below in full.

Who is responsible

The Void Galactica Dev Team is the data controller for this site. Reach us at game@voidgalactica.com for anything on this page, including requests to see or delete what we hold.

Analytics

The site counts page views with Google Analytics 4. The Google tag loads on every page, but under Google Consent Mode it comes up with storage denied: until you press Allow on the consent panel it sets no cookie, cannot recognise you between visits, and reports only an anonymous, unjoined hit. Advertising and remarketing signals are switched off permanently, whatever you choose.

If you do allow it, Google Analytics records the pages you visit, rough location from your IP address, and browser and device type, and sets _ga cookies to recognise a returning browser. It also records which devlog or blog entry you opened, whether it was still open half a minute later, and which frames you opened at full resolution — the title of the entry, nothing about you. We read it as visitor counts, popular pages and which entries get read to the end. Legal basis: your consent, GDPR Art. 6(1)(a). You can withdraw it at any time with the Cookies control in the footer of every page — that stops collection and deletes the cookies.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat that as a refusal already given. The panel does not appear and storage stays denied.

Newsletter

The signup form stores your email address with Kit (formerly ConvertKit), which hosts our mailing list and sends the mail. You get a confirmation request first; the address is only added if you click it. Kit also records whether a message was opened and which links were clicked. Legal basis: your consent. Every mail carries an unsubscribe link, and using it removes you from the list.

Contact form

The form on the contact page is relayed to game@voidgalactica.com by Web3Forms, which forwards the name, email address and message you typed and does not keep an account or database for us. Legal basis: your consent in sending it, and our legitimate interest in answering. The mail then lives in our inbox like any other correspondence. If scripting is off, the form hands the message to your own mail client instead and no third party sees it.

Hosting

The site is served by Firebase Hosting (Google). Like any web server, it logs requests — IP address, time, page, user agent — as a normal part of delivering pages and keeping the service up. Legal basis: legitimate interest, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f). We do not use these logs for analytics.

Cookies and local storage

No cookie is set by this site itself. Two values are kept in your browser's local storage, which never leaves your device and is not transmitted anywhere:

• vg-consent — your answer to the analytics panel, so you are not asked on every page.
• vg-booted — the timestamp of your last visit to the home page, so the boot screen is not replayed at you.

Cookies appear only if you allow analytics, at which point Google sets _ga and _ga_<stream>, which expire after two years or when you withdraw consent, whichever comes first. Clearing site data in your browser removes all of it.

Who else receives data

Only the processors named above: Google (analytics and hosting), Kit (newsletter), Web3Forms (contact relay). Nothing is sold, and nothing is handed to advertisers or data brokers. Kit and Web3Forms are outside the EEA and the transfer rests on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses; Google's analytics and hosting for Europe run through Google Ireland Limited. The site loads nothing else from anywhere else. Fonts, video and images are served from this domain, and the YouTube, X, Discord and itch.io buttons are plain links — no embeds, no trackers riding along with them. Follow one and you are on their site, under their policy.

How long it is kept

• Analytics — 14 months in Google Analytics, then deleted automatically.
• Newsletter — until you unsubscribe.
• Contact mail — kept while the conversation is live and cleared out when it is no longer useful, at most two years.
• Server logs — retained on Google's standard Firebase Hosting schedule.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of what we hold, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to how it is used, and receive it in a portable form. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time, without affecting anything done before. Mail game@voidgalactica.com and we will answer within one month. If you think we have handled it badly, you can complain to your national supervisory authority — in Poland that is the Urząd Ochrony Danych Osobowych.

Children

The site is not aimed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If a child has signed up to the newsletter, mail us and we will remove the address.

Changes

If what we collect changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. A change to the analytics side also resets the consent panel, so you will be asked again rather than carried over on an answer you gave to a different question.
